A friendly home near Voss

Enjoy comfortable budget accommodation in Evanger, a small, pretty village just one hour by car/train from Bergen and 20 minutes from Voss! The village centre is picturesque, alongside a lake and river, with mountains on every side. Within walking distance, there is a shop and a café, workshops and other businesses, hiking trails, and the start of Den grøne sløyfa, a spectacular route by bicycle or car. In the summer, there are often workawayers and other international guests staying nearby.

Evanger has a rich history, and the old street and houses are protected, due to their historic value. There is a monument to commemorate Knute Nelson, the US senator who was born in poverty in Evanger, and who serves as a symbol of the struggle and ultimate success of some of the poor who emigrated from Norway in the 1800s.

Voss is a small town with lot of activity, summer and winter, and it is a great place for hiking, skiing, extreme sports, and music. Voss hosts an annual jazz festival the weekend before Easter, an extreme sports festival in June, and a folk music festival in late October, in addition to sports events and concerts throughout the year.

From here, it is easy to reach Gudvangen, Flåm, Voss, Bergen, and other nearby places by car, train and bus; you can also easily join the Norway in a Nutshell tour. There is free parking outside the house. Evanger railway station and bus stop are a two minute walk from the house, and connections to Voss, Bergen and Oslo are easy and convenient. In the winter, the morning and afternoon trains connect with a free shuttle bus service to the two main ski resorts in Bavallen and Myrkdalen.
