Our guests stay with us in our home, which is a large, rustic house with a lot of history. The guest rooms are on the top floor, and guests can interact with the family as much or as little as they like. The guest floor is currently being renovated. From the summer of 2022, there will be a simple shared guest kitchen, living room and terrace on the same floor as the rooms, though we hope many guests will continue to use our family rooms. We will have four guest rooms available:
White room: A larger room with a double bed that quickly converts into two single beds, plus 1-2 convertable single beds, and ensuite bathroom.
Green room: A quiet room with a double bed and ensuite bathroom, but no view.
China room: A smaller room with a double bed. Shared bathroom in the hallway..
Traveller room: A room with a double bed that quickly converts into two single beds, plus bunk beds. Shared bathroom in the hallway.
The rooms all have comfortable beds, a wardrobe and/or shelves, and a desk. They are on the third floor (UK second floor), with no elevator.
All reservations include breakfast, bedding and towels. Dinner is extra and is usually shared with the family. It is possible to use the guest or family kitchen if you would like to cook your own meals. Good WiFi throughout the house. Parties and noise are not permitted.
Regardless which room you are in, you are welcome to:
If you bring children, we have toys and lego. If needed, we have a cot and safety gates for the stairs.
Our house is old and charming; it creaks and bears the mark of history. We love it very much, but it is not luxurious, and it's constantly undergoing big and small improvements.
Staying with us gives you an opportunity to meet an active Anglo-Norwegian family and experience family life in a Norwegian setting. We speak English and Norwegian, and I also speak French and some Arabic.
Several children aged 10 and up live here, so there can be a lot of activity. The children try to be considerate, but they can be noisy. They have their rooms and bathroom in a separate part of the house for privacy.
Evanger is a tiny, picturesque village one hour by car or train from Bergen, and 20 minutes from Voss. The village is situated where the river Vosso flows out into Evangervatnet, and is surrounded by mountains and stunning scenery.
There is a little beach just two minutes from the house, and we have 2-3 kayaks that can be used when the weather is good. The ski centres and many indoor and outdoor activities in Voss are about 20 minutes from Evanger by train or car.
Please get in touch if you are unable to book the dates you want. Send an email or click the yellow chat bubble at the bottom right, and we'll get back to you asap!
We still have some measures in place to protect our guests and ourselves, such as strict cleaning routines and hand sanitiser dispensers. As all restrictions have been lifted, we now serve meals with the family, unless guests request individual meals. We also now accept more than one reservation at a time.
If the situation should change again, stricter measures will quickly be put into place. All guests must observe national policies, including quarantine rules and travel restrictions. You can not stay here when in quarantine.
